ہند یاترا

This is a moving account of Mumtaz Mufti sahib’s visit to India in 1982, nearly 35 years after migrating to Pakistan. Mufti sahib writes with his heart. His humaneness, his compassion, his sense of wonder at the things which have changed in India in this period, all come out beautifully. Just one episode, his trip to the Bhandari bookshop in Darya Ganj with his doctor friend to buy homoeopathy books by Indian authors and how pleasant their interaction with the saleswomen can sum up the spirit of the entire book. I wish a Hindi translation could be made of this book.
